SPECULA test cards are CNC-machined flowcells assembled with solvent bonding. In early IVD development, it can be difficult to prototype optical flow cells without molding components and developing complicated assembly processes like laser welding. Surface finishes in SPECULA may not match that of a production-level, injection molded version, but they are not intended to. They serve the function of fast prototypes useful in evaluating size, fit, and general function - all without extreme cost.

Test cards can be produced in a raw machined format which is typically sufficient for early evaluation, or, vapor polishing is available.
